Rothstein refused to identify his killer. It's alleged the Dutchman murdered Rothstein in retaliation for the murder of his friend and associate, Joey Noe, by Rothstein's protege, Jack "Legs" Diamond.
Frank Erickson, Meyer Lansky, and Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel inherited his enterprises.
His death led to the rapid fall of NY's Tammany Hall to include Mayor Jimmy Walker which led to the nut job, Fiorello "F" La Guardia to becoming mayor.
Rothstein always had class and died a true gentleman even in the end, unlike LaGuardia, who although was a combination of both Jewish and Italian, had no loyalty to his ancestors but to the anglo-saxon..
