Art Laboe Died? Seems to be Another Internet Death Hoax
Reports Circulating that Art Laboe Had Died, But With No Evidence, Seems As if it is Another Internet Death Hoax
Art Laboe may be 85 years old, but according to all reports he has not died and everything is fine. Occasionally reports such as these will circulate and it is not sure how they are started, but Art Laboe seems to be fine and no one is confirming this news is true.
Art Laboe is the man behind the phrase 'oldies but goodies' and he is known for his radio broadcasts in the southern United States. He broadcasts every Sunday from 6pm until midnight and he can be heard on 12 different radio stations.
He has been involved with radio, music and record producing his whole life and put together the first ever album that featured hit songs by different artists. The name of that album was Oldies but Goodies.
The city of Los Angeles appreciates Art Laboe so much that they even declared July 17 1981 to be Art Laboe Day when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 2009 it stated:
Phone lines flash six nights a week inside a dimly lit Hollywood studio where Art Laboe sits before his microphone, faithful to his old-fashioned format: playing sentimental oldies and taking dedications. For more than 50 years, his deep, soothing voice has been as cherished among Latinos in the Southwest as Chick Hearn's rapid-fire staccato once was among Lakers fans.
Without confirmation from any official sources however, it is safe to assume the Art Laboe dead rumors are not true.
