Acclaimed and prolific science-fiction author Arthur C. Clarke has died at the age of 90. More details as they emerge.
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — An aide says science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke has died.

Rohan De Silva says Clarke died early Wednesday after suffering from breathing problems. He was 90.

Clarke is the author of more than 100 books, including 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I shot this light spectacle not knowing for sure the end result, but as the image was recorded, I immediately though of the movie 2001.

I shot this as part of project 365 on Flickr. I was reading through all of Arthur C. Clarke's Rama series. This series was my favorite of all of Clarke's work.
