Artie Lange Missing From Howard Stern Show Since Last Tuesday
Artie Lange has not shown up to work as sidekick to the Howard Stern show since last Tuesday. What at first was vaguely referred to as a sickness absence, has blossomed into something else altogether, most likely a relapse into a drug addiction.
Howard Stern started off the show telling his audience that he does not know when Lange will be back. Stern said that he got a text from Artie but he wasn't at liberty to reveal it to the public. Robin read the text and made a vague remark, "'I thought there was something being done to prevent that.'"
It might be that Lange is battling a drug addiction, and substance abuse. Lange was recently on ESPN's BS Report (September 1) sounding very upbeat and optimistic about staying clean. He said that he had been clean from heroin for 6 months. Artie also openly talked about his addiction to sports gambling.
"Howard started off the show noting that Artie wouldn't be in today – and no one was sure when he'd be back. Howard said Artie had texted him an explanation of his absence, but he wasn't sure how much Artie wanted him to share with the audience: 'It involves a balloon and a 6 year-old boy. I can't really say much more.' Robin asked to read the text and returned with an ambiguous report: 'I thought there was something being done to prevent that.'"
