August Coppola, Father of Nicholas Cage, Dies of Heart Attack

August Coppola, Nicholas Cage's father and brother of accalaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, passed away on Tuesday, October 27 of a heart attack, he was 75. Coppola's passing was confirmed by Nicholas Cage's spokeswoman, Annett Wolf saying the cause of death was a heart attack.

Beyond his famous family August Coppola was an accomplished intellectual serving as a literature professor as well as the dean of creative arts at San Francisco State University. He is survived by his three sons, Cage included, and five grandchildren.
