Australia National Sorry Day - 26th May
This day is not observed for environment, endangered animals, love, relationships, culture but for humanity. Yes that's true, the word is Humanity.
Australia marks the 26th of May each year since 1998 as "The National Sorry Day". This is done in order to commemorate the Bringing Them Home report that was handed to the federal government on 26 May 1997.
The report was the result of an inquiry into the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission
This created a political storm which refused to die down. However, in the end solace and peace were restored with the then Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Keating apologized and acknowledged his mistake.
The children who were taken away from their families were then known as "The Stolen Generations"
Although it is not observed as a national or an official holiday, some leaders especially the Aboriginal leaders have made calls to make it an official holiday.

It only counts if it's step #1 for real social action, which is clearly needed. As a microcosm, look at Redfern and Surry Hills: neighboring Sydney inner suburbs, but different worlds.
