While the Aussies lead the table with six points, they would not take the Lankans' giant-killing track record lightly. "We are certainly not going to take this team lightly," said Australia skipper Jodie Fields. "They are a strong side. They've hadtremendous victories in the tournament so far and they fully deserve that."
Though unbeaten in the tournament, Australia's batting has been patchy and captain Fields admitted as much.
"We need to work on our batting. We were very disappointed with the total we posted against England. We are a better team that that and to see us defend a total of 147 gives us a lot of confidence.
"We have let ourselves down in the first innings with the bat againstPakistan and England. We did not chase convincingly against South Africa too. So it is a key area for us going into the next match."
Admitting to planning in advance for the Lankan batting line-up, especially Yasoda Mendis and Kaushalya Lokusooriya, the 28-year-old wicketkeeper said, "She (Kaushalya) is dangerous with the bat as she has great boundary-hitting ability. They've got some quality spinners too. There will be more pace off the ball from what I have seen." Fields remained undecided about the toss. "I don't know what we are going to do until the conditions are same on the day. Whatever we do we need to have a better start."
