NP Rank:
Australian man does Gossip Girl--albeit openly
March 4 welcomed netizens with a new and gripping blog revealing the darker side of the Philippine upper class society--ostensibly mirroring the Gossip Girl series. Aimed at claiming back US$70,000, Australian Brian Gorrell exposes the negative and sordid face of the country's haute culture played by his antagonists popularly referred to as the Gucci Gang.
But it may seem an underqualification to compare it to the hit TV series. Some insiders claim it as making "Gossip Girl seem like Disney's High School Musical".
delfindjmontano.blogspot.com has since gathered popularity unmatched by any other Philippine-related blogs by a foreigner. In his tale, Gorrell puts forward the misappropriation of funds he has lent to former lover, DJ Montano, supposedly to open a restaurant. In the process, he reveals the latter's true colors who he alleges as a professional con man, and implicates a few other individuals who frequent the lifestlye pages of popular newspapers and magazines.
The online journal has elicited varied opinions from thousands, mainly from the Philippines, Australia, and the US, about the personalities named (all of prominent status) and the country's social disposition marked by a dichotomous divide of the have and the have-not.
The individuals implicated in this riveting "saga" are examining legal actions to block the online journal. But the owner stands firm in his resolve for justice, having had his heart and mind broken by the very person he has offered everything to.
