The French city of Avignon holds a cultural festival every year that rivals Edinburgh's famous festival in terms of quality. This year will be no exception and a highlight will be Tango Hotel that celebrates the life and work of one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century Nazim Hikmet. For those who have never read Hikmet's work here's a link to some quotes . His work is well worth searching out and anyone in the Avingon area over the summer could do worse than check out the play.

France's Avignon festival will host a musical spectacle commemorating the liberation of Turkish poet Nazım Hikmet from prison in 1950.

Hotel Tango, developed by Barbara Hutt and Pierre Chabert, will run from July 10 to Aug. 2 at the Grand Pavois Theater in Paris. It is a repetition of a musical gala celebrating Hikmet's liberation.
