Avril Lavigne is "Too Sexy" for Malaysia

Sk8er girl Avril is about to be banned by Malaysia for being "too sexy".

You want 'too sexy'? How about British popstar bodybuilders with shaved heads sing/talk/rapping in mesh crop-tops too sexy? Now that's worth banning.

Malaysia's Islamic opposition party, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, is trying to ban Avril Lavigne from playing a show in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur after deeming the singer's stage moves "too sexy." According to The Associated Press, the youth wing of the party said on Monday (August 18) that the skate rat turned glam-pop singer's August 29 show would promote the wrong values ahead of Malaysia's independence day on August 31.
"It is considered too sexy for us. ... It's not good for viewers in Malaysia," party official Kamarulzaman Mohamed said. "We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models." Kamarulzaman sent protest letters to the Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry and Kuala Lumpur's mayor last week, calling for the concert to be canceled.

With regards the artist being too sexy I couldnt really say, she was covered up, not a lot of flesh on show and her dancers were the same.She wore a t-shirts and trousers, a far cry from what we see on stage from other artists.
The lyrics of the songs are not offensive

This is rediculous.. I have been to four Avril Lavigne concerts and nothing offensive to public have ever been performed. A lot of kids and young people at the concert. Great atmosphere!All professional- sound, light, decorations...She is a great singer and musician. Like her music very much. I suggest Malaysian authorities to reconsider their decision. Avril rocks!

Malaysia didn't ban Avril's concert. Only the state of Kelantan banned her. And that state has always been a little queer anyway, but they don't have any power to make decisions to disallow a concert.

Since the concert won't even be held over there so there isn't any need for the brouhahas as dear Avril would be performing anyway....

From what I observed at her concert in St. John's, NL. The "Too sexy" comment is way out of the park. Her clothes were very tasteful, and as usual she was her jumping, peppy self.

I don't think she's too sexy, I actually think she would like to be sexier, but can't.
Her lyrics are very soft, I don't see the problem there, but you know the culture... is the culture, and for the people outside of a specify culture, is sometimes hard to understand their minds.
