Axl Rose Bottled Onstage in Dublin (Video)
Axl Rose Aborts Dublin Concert after Getting Hit with Bottle
Axl Rose walked off the stage during the Guns N' Roses show at Dublin's 02 Arena after getting hit with a bottle.
Axl Rose was an hour late getting the show underway, and the Dublin, Ireland crowd was not happy about it. Some concertgoers threw bottles onto the stage during "Welcome to the Jungle".
Axl Rose warned that the show would be over if anyone threw any more objects onto the stage. Rose was hit with a bottle a few songs later; he admonished the crowd and left the stage, but the venue operators would not let him leave until he fulfilled Guns N' Roses' obligation to finish the show.
Meanwhile, a venue rep had the unenviable job of trying to keep the crowd calm, describing the delay as due to "technical difficulties", whereas the crowd saw it as "Axl Rose throwing a star fit".
After an hour backstage, the band returned to finish the show before a nearly-empty venue.
Axl Rose: A History of Being Very Late
The most surprising aspect of this story is that it doesn't happen more often: throughout Guns N' Roses' history, Rose has been chronically late, which has cost the band literally millions of dollars in fines and support crew overtime pay.
"Here is the deal. One more bottle up here and we go. We don't want to go. Your choice," he told the crowd during an abrupt break to the band's second song, "Welcome to the Jungle."
