The Bachelorette Finale 2009: Jillian Harris Chooses Ed Swiderski
The Bachelorette finale aired on ABC Monday night, answering the one question that fans of the show have asked for weeks: Who does Jillian pick?
So who won the Bachelorette? In the end, Jillian chooses Ed Swiderski, who proposed to her in Hawaii.
The show began with Jillian's family meeting Ed Swiderski and Kiptyn Locke. Jillian Harris' mom, dad, grandmother and sister flew from Canada to Hawaii to meet their two prospective in-laws. Jillian's mother had a laundry list of questions for Ed and Kiptyn. Jillian's dad seemed to be impressed with Ed, even dancing with him while they wore coconut bras.
After the grilling, Jillian went on a final date with both Ed and Kiptyn. Jillian and Ed go on a helicopter ride while Kiptyn takes Jillian to the beach.
Decision time finally came for Jillian and she lets Kiptyn down easy. Kiptyn professes his love, but it's too little, too late.
"In the mean time, I've fallen in love with somebody else," says Jillian to Kiptyn.
Kiptyn takes it gracefully. "You're an incredible woman and Ed's a lucky man."
Things didn't end so easily, however, This being the Bachelorette, producers promised another "shocking" season finale. The big shock: Reid pops up to win Jillian back. Reid realized he hadn't opened up enough to Jillian and wanted to go out on a limb to prove his love for Jillian. Once again, it was too little, too late.
"I was thinking about spending the rest of my life with somebody else today," Jillian said. "I have to think about it. I can't make a decision like this."
Eventually, she sent Reid home, leaving Ed as the last man standing. Ed dropped to one knee and offered her an engagement. She gladly accepted it and Jillian and Ed embrace. The audience is then subjected to a montage of the couple highlighted by Martina McBride's Everyone Calls You Amazing But I Just Call You Mine (lyrics can be found here). Too bad they couldn't have gotten Wes Hayden to perform a song for the Bachelorette finale. He was probably busy touring Chihuahua, Mexico.
So are Jillian and Ed still together? Rumor has it that the Jillian and Ed are still together and planning their wedding, but nothing will be confirmed until The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose airs Tuesday night on ABC.

I really wanted her to pick Reid, although considering he wore some weird running shoes with his suit when he came back to tell her how he felt, I can completely understand Jillian's decision to go with Ed.
