Bad Gyal Ce'Cile Keeps Fans Waiting
Dancehall deejay Ce’Cile is set to release a new album entitled “Waiting” later this month. The album’s first single, “So Fly”, features Beenie Man and was produced by American producer, Scott Storch. So Fly is being marketed and promoted heavily in the North American market, while the second single, “Ride or Die” (aka “Gangsta Girl”), is getting heavy rotation at radio stations and parties in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Waiting will feature other collaborations and remixes with a number of popular artistes including Shaggy, Junior Reid and Ding Dong. Ce’Cile is currently on tour in Europe; check out her MySpace page for tour dates and for her playlist which features tracks from Waiting.
The Gangsta Girl of Dancehall is currently on tour in Europe where she will be making appearances at various major festivals before returning to Jamaica for a quick stop before heading to Guyana on July 26th.
Known simply as “Ce’Cile”, this Jamaican diva has consistently been tipped as the woman most likely to join Dancehall’s men in the mainstream. Style, wit, grace, intelligence, creativity and flare for controversy are all key components for a budding diva. Already armed with raft of popular Jamaican singles, it’s her much anticipated debut album “Waiting”, (Danger Zone / SoBe Records) that is most likely to thrust her to the International stage.
Widely acknowledged by the Reggae Fraternity as one of the most successful female artistes she has been presented with a bevy of award nominations inclduing the Irie Jam Radio Awards, Jamaican Federation of Musicians, 2 IRAWMA awards, South Florida Reggae Awards, Tamika Awards and more. To date, Ce’Cile is still one of the few Dancehall artists to be featured in Source Magazine, Vibe Magazine and XLR8R Magazine.
This groundwork has lead to crossover hits in Germany such as: “Rude Bwoy Thug Life”, “Hot Like We”, a collaboration with DJ Tomec and other genre-crossing collaborations with British breakbeat producers Stanton Warriors and the electornica wizard Amon Tobin. Ce’Cile has collaborations with elite artists such as Trina, Shaggy, Timberland, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Sean Paul, Lady Saw and Olivia to name a few. Ce’Cile’s N American Debut will be on the Danger Zone / SoBe Record label and is slated for a July / August 2008 release.
The first single “So Fly” (a duet with Beenie Man) can be heard on her myspace page www.myspace.com/cecile) Other collaborations include Shaggy, Jr Reid, and Ding Dong. Producers on the album include Scot Storch, Danger Zone Records, SoBe Records, Steelie and Clevie, Cordel “Skatta” Burrell and more.
