The U.S. Government is getting all tech-savvy on us—you can now receive SMS/text messages from the U.S. Department of State with highlights of President Barack Obama's speech given in Cairo.

Be among the first to receive highlights from President Barack Obama's historic speech to be given in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday, June 4, 2009 through SMS updates created by the US Department of State.

This innovative service will allow interested citizens from around the world to receive speech highlights via text message. To register for the service, simply complete the online registration form below. Once completed all participants will receive 'live' President Obama speech highlights.

All you have to do is fill out a little form and confirm your participation and next thing you know Obama is texting you.

Speeches via SMS, really? Seems to me like all those politicos would have to strain their eyes to read the text on their cell phone screens. But leave it to our man B, that's Barack Obama for those of you not hip to the lingo, to take advantage of technology and get in touch with the kids.

I'd say step in the right direction but maybe have audio recordings to listen to, at least then we can pretend to be busy talking on the phone while enjoying Barack's smooth tone.
