Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 List
Barbara Walters airs her special December 9th of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009, but the 10th person won't be revealed until the end of the special. Who do you think it will be?
Let's look at the other nine people:
Glenn Beck - host of The Glenn Beck Program and a cable-news show on Fox. Beck has known success as a radio and television host as well as an author.
Brett Favre - a successful American quarterback who has already retired once and came back to playing professional football, then retired again. He gained great success as a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 2007.
Kate Gosselin - 2009 really has been the year of the Gosselins, when America watched one of the biggest American families fall apart on national television. She was also one of the most searched people on the internet in 2009.
Lady Gaga - a musician who was virtually unknown at the beginning of 2009, Lady Gaga has broken on to the scene this year and has continued to fascinate people with her outrageous outfits and her ground-breaking music.
Michael Jackson's kids - although not one person, Michael Jackson's children have been though a lot in 2009 when their father died suddenly in June. His children were thrust in to the spotlight at his memorial service and have been struggling to regain their lives ever since.
Adam Lambert - the second place finalist in American Idol, he has pushed the boundaries of what can be shown on television during muscial performances. His new album For Your Entertainment had a successful debut in November.
Sarah Palin - Palin has also had a busy year, from stepping down as Alaska Governor and releasing her new book Going Rogue: An American Life, and her ongoing battle with her grandson's father Levi Johnston.
Tyler Perry - although this interview was filmed before the death of his mother yesterday, Perry is still a very successful actor, director, screenwriter, producer and author. He is also good friends with Oprah.
Jenny Sanford - Wife of the South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, who had an affair with a woman from Argentina. Jenny Sanford did not stick around with her husband and moved out with her four sons.
Who will number ten be?

I don't know how many of you have kids or have been around multiple kids for that matter but any woman who can raise 8 kids alone - who wouldn't find her interesting? She has my vote! The first lady in the number one spot was a great move - and I'm not even American!

I am confounded by Barbara's choices. Except for Michelle Obama this would be funny, if it were not such a pathetic statement about the world we live in. Barbara, maybe your age is showing??

Re Kate Gosselin - What do you mean "raise 8 kids alone"? She has 2 nannies, a cook, and a housekeeper. She plays to her audience - poor me, I'll be strong, everything for my children. Why don't her actions support her words? She has totally alienated her family and the close friends she had for years. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors, but it was shameful the way she continually berated Jon on TV - sometimes for the same things that she herself did - no wonder he wanted out, altho I can't say that I condone the way it all came down. Personally I'm tired of hearing about them and think they need to settle down to a "normal" life. The eight children were far more "fascinating" than Kate or Jon.

I agree on some points. It all depends on how you look at it. John knew who Kate was before they were married - I don't imagine they changed that much once they were on screen. If that's what John signed up for when he said I do then that was his choice - I'm not judging basing my vote on that.Any woman who wants to have a carrier needs someone to look after their kids. and legally for every 5 kids you need one adult. So the nanny I understand because when I go to work I need someone to watch my kids for 40 hours a week (Does that make me a bad person?). And if after work she needs to spend one on one time with each kid and give all of them proper attention (which is recommended by all child rearing books and pediatric psychologists) you would probably need another adult present to make it safe and effective for the children. The cook is just a bonus that I would love to have!
