BC Youth Week: Will you be there?
With the first week of May fast approaching, Youth all over BC are gearing up for BC Youth Week 2008 and the expectations are high.
Youth Week is an internationally celebrated event that aims to recognize the positive contributions youth make in their communities, and to celebrate the valuable work youth do all year round.
Youth Week gives youth an opportunity to be honoured for all the positive contributions they provide throughout the year. "Being a part of BC Youth Week is a great opportunity for every community" says Russ Brummer, Program Coordinator, "youth are engaged and everyone benefits."
There are going to be a diverse range of events planned this year, there is sure to be something for absolutely everyone! Random Acts of Kindness, concerts, sporting events, contests, prizes, you name it, BC Youth Week 2008 has it. For a full listing of events, visit www.bcyouthweek.com.
BCYW has also created a Facebook Fan Page to communicate with youth online, "It's always great to see the more traditional type of organizations step into the online community space and use the internet for what I think it's made to do: communicate and share” says Megan Cole, Social Media Consultant, “through initiating a Facebook community via "Pages", BC Youth Week will grow their audience and reach out to their youth in a way that is immediate, direct, dynamic and exciting."
BC Youth Week has nailed down some great supporters such as Cirkids, whom by the way are performing the same time as BCYW, what great timing! Rogers, Universal Music, Translink and much more are supporting the youth coordinated events. You never know there maybe the 2010 mascot appearance too!
