Beastie Boys Are Back in the Studio

If the star studded Bonnaroo 2009 lineup wasn't tempting enough already, the fact that it will feature some new songs performed live by The Beastie Boys has added another layer of anticipation. The band has confirmed that they are back in the studio working on the their eighth studio album. The only confirmed date to support the album is the headlining spot at Bonnaroo.

"It's a combination of playing and sampling stuff as we're playing, and also sampling pretty obscure records."

An official release date is not out yet, but Adam "MCA" Yauch claims

the band are "tweaking some mixes and we're going to master it in the next couple of weeks."

The album has a "working title" of Tadlock's Glasses.

Hands down one of the BEST LIVE SHOWS I'VE SEEN EVER!!

Wow great to know that the Beastie Boys are still active. Hopefully they add a tour with this new album and that they preform in the Netherlands. Then i'm definatly going to buy tickets.

I would really like to see The Beasties make an appearance at Sziget festival this summer if they tour Europe with it.

Hi Robert --

Unfortunately, it is not a fan photo, but I am a professional photographer, and contractually obligated for that photograph to be purchased from Corbis/Outline (corbis.com). Thank you for wanting to use it, and I'd love for it to get the exposure, but I am not allowed to simply give it away when an agency is working for me to sell the usage.

The reason the photograph is up on flickr at all is because a professional contact asked me to post some photographs -- otherwise they would not be there at all, and probably will not be up for long.

The Beastie Boys participated in an event called "Rock the Vote" on the VCU Monroe Park campus in Richmond, VA. The event was meant to encourage college-age kids to vote in the 2008 presidential election. Students crowded to see Sheryl Crow, Jack Johnson, and other celebrities poised to play. Needless to say, it was extremely crowded by small enough that you could touch hands of rock stars if you so pleased. (I shook Jack Johnson's hand.) I originally took this photo for Richmond.com, a formerly independent news & entertainment website now owned by Media General, when I was an editorial intern there.
