The Beatles iTunes rumor has been denied by EMI, which distributes the Beatles' back catalogue. Originally Sky News reported that the Beatles iTunes release was going to be announced during today's Apple announcement, but that report was denied by EMI. SO, the Beatles are not coming to iTunes, at least not today. Or tomorrow. This is because, basically, EMI is afraid of piracy... so the only way to get digital Beatles tunes is by piracy. I'm not making this up.

The holdup is EMI’s conern about the prospects for piracy, Paul McCartney told The Observer.

The ex-Beatle said he, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison wanted to release the music on iTunes, but EMI, which owns the master recordings, objected.
