Beenie Man & Marley Clan Feud Heats Up
Self proclaimed King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man, expounded on his growing rift with The Marley clan in an exclusive interview with British radio personality Chris Goldfinger.
The feud which began over a year ago, came to public attention after Beenie Man stated in an earlier interview that he had accumulated more global number one hits than Reggae icon Bob Marley.
Beenie Man, who is regarded as the most popular artist in Dancehall history, has acquired over 1000 worldwide chart toppers in his nearly double decade career.
This evident fact, recorded in his upcoming biography "Who Am I?" by renowned Jamaican journalist Milton Wray, has become the active ingredient of the escalating feud.
Beenie Man accuses Stephen Marley of trying to sabotage his scheduled 35 minute guest performance in Bahamas recently after being invited by the Marley Clan personally.
“Elephant Man a mi artiste, no disrespect, but the fact is the fact, you can’t go pon the stage and pay me fi do you show an a cry fi out elephant man. Is pay you pay mi fi desrepsect mi ?” pondered The King Of Dancehall.
The energy God Elephant Man who appeared before Beenie Man, was apparently heralded and encored by Stephen Marley himself, an overture which has become a point of contention ever since.
Beenie claims the Marley Clan capitalized on his popularity to promote an event in Germany after lukewarm patronage in previous years.
“The promoter says you have 45000 people every year, now you have 80,000 people because Beenie Man is here. Dem look pon me an tell me seh, dem a de royal family, dem no work before no DJ.” he quipped, while expressing his evident disgust.
He went on to state that his enjoyed a good friendship with Kymani Marley and maintained a deep respect for the legend Bob Marley, but accuses Stephen Marley of trying to undermine his evident popularity.
“Until Death do us Part, me ago tuff it out” he stated before ending his Interview.
