Ben Walker Engaged to Mamie Gummer, Meryl Streep's Daughter

Stage actor Ben Walker and Mamie Gummer, acting legend Meryl Streep's daughter, have announced they are happily engaged. The second-generation actor, Gummer, confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine at the annual Whitney Gala on Monday, October 19, 2009 that she was indeed engaged to Walker.

Walker, 27, proposed to Gummer, 25, the night before the Whitney Gala on one knee and all with a modest, yet highly secretive, engagement ring that's a bit oversized.

"He had it made somewhere," she said. "He won't tell me where, so I doubt he will tell you."

The newly engaged couple met in April of 2008 while they were performing alongside one another in Dangerous Liaisons on Broadway and began dating about a year and a half ago.

No date has been set for a ceremony thus far.
