Better Run Run: MC Hammer Responds to Jay-Z's Dis with New Video
When Jay-Z dissed MC Hammer in a guest spot on Kanye West's "So Appalled" ("And Hammer went broke, so you know I’m more focused/ I lost 30 mil so I spent another 30/ Cause unlike Hammer 30 million can’t hurt me.”), MC Hammer vowed retaliation on Halloween Night.
Halloween, as Charlie Brown once said, has come and gone, and everyone (who cared) thought that MC Hammer wouldn't follow through on his threat... but wait! What's this? In the wee hours of November 1, a new tweet appeared:
MC Hammer's fans were quick to rally around Oaktown's favorite son, declaring Hammer to be officially back. Jay-Z fans are probably scratching their heads and wondering why MC Hammer's new video doesn't feature any of the traditional fly girls.
MC Hammer 'Baptizes' Jay-Z
MC Hammer's "Better Run Run" video starts with a boringly long intro with him and a bunch of guys mumbling around a boardroom table before we get to the actual track. With lyrics such as "That boy tried to steal my swag/ Fingerprints all over the bag/ Imposter- get him outta here/ Imposter- the king is right here", the "Better Run Run" video depicts a Jay-Z impersonator running through the woods followed by Satan. Then there's a lot of trash talk, with MC Hammer dancing around a campfire and working out with MMA guys, before the finale: MC Hammer stopping the devil from chasing Jigga, and then baptizing Jay-Z in a river.
Huh.
