"BEYOND METAMORPHOSIS" A Tribute To The Victims Of 9/11 Indoor @ The Pier INDOORS

This art show was done for the victms of 9/11 by the artist known as Victor Matthews. Each umbrella was hand painted and numbered close to 3,000 individual pieces. As Ace Preston I was asked to photograph the event from start to finish. There were a total of 2 shows, an indoor show which was actually first to take place with the umbrellas floating on the Hudson River but due to the rough water conditions the umbrellas were moved indoors to the former NYC Office Of Emergency Management. The show was then done outdoors at Battery Park City. Neither of the exhibits received major publicity cause it was done by true artists. I felt obligated due to photograph in honor of the many friends I lost and the guilt I expressed for having only taken one photo of the Twin Towers in all my years as a New Yorker(The Black & White photo is the only picture I have of the Twin Towers and it was taken accidentally as I was trying to photograph a plane landing at LaGuadia Airport back in 1977). The photo with the lights was taken on the last day of the tribute lights. The rest speak for themselves.
