Big Brother UK Contestants Evacuated Due to Flooding: Photos
For the First Time in Big Brother History, Contestants in the UK House in Elstree Had to Evacuate After Massive Flooding
Photos and camera stills published on the Daily Mail website show water pouring in to the house after severe flooding inside was caused by freak weather conditions in the area.
This is the first time that contestants have had to be evacuated from the house during filming, and the nine cast members were taken to a 'holding area in the Big Brother compound.'
A spokesperson for the Channel 4 show said: 'I can confirm that after some flooding in the Big Brother house, all the housemates have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
'They are currently put up in alternative accommodation while we are assessing the situation.'
As of this morning the living room, the bedroom and the diary room are still not accessible due to the severe flooding and the housemates had to sleep in the task room last night after they were able to return around 1am. The Big Brother live stream was also down due to the weather and now all the cables are being checked in the house to make sure conditions are safe for everyone.
It was a huge surprise for the nine housemates, Steve, Josie, Dave, John, James, Corin, Mario, Andrew, JJ and Sam, who were in bed at the time.
They are now back in part of the house but will have to wait for safety checks and clean-up crews before they can access any other part of the house.
Naturally there will be a 90 minute Big Brother special tonight on TV to re-cap all the action.
