Bill Maher taped a harsh and hilarious “Christmas message” for his website and called Oprah’s “Favorite Things” episode “one of the most deeply disturbing things I’ve ever seen on television.” Maher used Oprah’s audience as the prime example for his thesis that the real religion in America is greed and is “what at the core is so rotten about this country.”

For those who love Oprah, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network goes live todaywith a sneak peek of its programming schedule which includes shows about therapy, cooking, addiction to food and more therapy inside a woman's prison.  Oprah includes her regular 'experts" to fix your life: Dr. Phil., Dr. Oz and Suze Orman.

Harsh I believe. Hilarious? Call me skeptical. (I'm the sole judge of what is and what is not hilarious in the world I live in.) On the very rare occasion, Maher might approach funny -- but never hilarious.

Anyone who thinks the smug, condescending, anti-American, anti-military Maher is ever hilarious needs lessons in good manners and humanity. That he belongs to an organization such as PETA rather than one that advances the well-being of humans speaks for itself.

Maher takes undue pride in his Ivy League (Cornell) education. I have news for the elitist snob: If he and I had ever been in a class together, his academic standing would have been one lower than it was.
