Billy Corgan and Jessica Simpson are the New Celebrity Couple?

Some strange celebrity couple news today is the fact that Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan and former pop princess Jessica Simpson are rumored to be dating, after being spotted hanging out in New York.

Apparently it is Jessica that is just smitten with Corgan, and according to a source they are not officially dating.

"She has fallen hard and is smitten," the insider told E! News. The site also published a photo of Simpson and Corgan hanging out together in New York City last Friday.

It seems that Jessica's friends are not happy at all about the news:

"He's just another in an endless string of Jessica's boyfriends," the source said. "They think he's too old for her. No one takes any of her boyfriends seriously anymore because she has had so many. They're sick of all of them being 'the one.'"

Corgan's past relationships include Courtney Love and for Jessica, she was dating Tony Romo and before that was married to Nick Lachey.
