Bing has made search deals with Twitter and Facebook, which will display tweets containing the terms you goo-- uh, I mean bing alongside the web-based results. Also present will be publicly-visible Facebook updates.

This is a pretty big development, especially since Bing is the default search tool for Internet Explorer: IE users tend to just use whatever they're presented with, hence Bing's already-large share of the search-o-sphere. This partnership, though, will make Bing more of an actual destination.

Mehdi said posts, or so-called tweets made on Twitter for public consumption, will now be accessible on its search service.
I like "so-called tweets". So, tell me about these (air quotes) tweets...
But the addition of Facebook raises the stakes considerably, because it has the largest pool of status updates, despite all the hype around Twitter. Facebook has previously stated that it has 40 million updates a day on average from its 300 million-plus audience.

Both Twitter and Facebook have also been talking to Google about such partnerships, but it looks like Redmond hooked it up first. I bet Google will follow suit.
