Black Judah - The Perfect Combo
Black Judah is the name of the reggae duo consisting of Sugar Black and Dylan Judah. This double barrel of musical power is cropped from the best musicians Jamaica and Los Angeles had to offer.
In 1995 Sugar Black started recording for Tony Rebel’s Flames Production and released a series of singles including the 1997 hit “Oh Jah”.
Together with Lehbanculeh he participated in Tony Rebel’s “Jah By My Side” international tour which took place in 1996-97. In 2000 his first full-length CD entitled “Black Attack” was released by US based “Issachar Productions”.
The other half of this multi talented duo is Dylan Judah, who has been involved in the underground and mainstream music scene in Los Angeles for years and has produced a number of successful projects including heavy waeight names such as The legendary Dub music pioneer The Scientist.
Now Signed to LA based imprint TeflonBlood records, the duo are a blend of two distinct flavors of Reggae music that has created this potpourri of signature sound known as Black Judah.
Their latest release “Mercy Please”, featuring homegrown upriser Warrior King is receiving solid airplay on local radio and is a playlist staple on IrieFM, and has charted to the top of various local Music charts in Jamaica with reciprocal success in North America and Europe.
Dancehall, Hip-hop and Reggae are blended to create the duo’s signature sound, and this new single takes a subtle tangent from the soundscape for which they are popularly known.
“Mercy Please” is a mix of amazing singing from Sugar Black and rough dancehall/ragga vocal styles of Dylan Judah coupled with the haunting vocal and conscious roots lyrics of Warrior King.
These songs keep a positive message all the while letting the people let loose and feel good in the clubs, in their cars or listening on the radio at work. Black Judah is here for the masses!
