It's quickly shaping up to be one of the coolest ensemble casts in a long time, and "Savages" just received three big celebrity boosts.

Blake Lively, John Travolta, and Uma Thurman have all signed on to star in the Oliver Stone-directed flick, which is based on the bestselling Don Winslow novel. They join some big names already lined up for the cast, including Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro.

According to Deadline, Travolta will star as a "burned out DEA agent" in the 2012 action drama film, which centers on two pot growers who are asked to work for a Mexican drug cartel (Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson).

For her part, Lively will be playing Ophelia ("O"), the growers' best gal pal who gets kidnapped. Thurman will star as her mother.

Meanwhile Deadline reveals that Hayek and Del Toro are set to play members of the Mexican drug cartel.

Travolta and Thurman provided plenty of on-screen chemistry in "Pulp Fiction" back in the 1990s, and it will be interesting to see how things have evolved since then.

Like the novel, the film adaptation of "Savages" revolves around Laguna pot growers Chon and Ben whose best girlfriend gets kidnapped after they refuse to work for a Mexican drug cartel. The two agree to pay the ransom but engage in a dangerous game by covertly ripping off the cartel's own shipments to get the funds.

"Savages" begins filming in July of this year.
