Blogger Goes Way Too Far
"A typical street whore." "A bunch of ghetto thugs." "Ghetto street trash." "Wonder when she will get her first abortion."
These are a small selection of some of the racially-charged comments posted to the conservative 'Free Republic' blog Thursday, aimed at U.S. President Barack Obama's 11-year-old daughter Malia after she was photographed wearing a t-shirt with a peace sign on the front.
The thread was accompanied by a photo of Michelle Obama speaking to Malia that featured the caption, "To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds."
Though this may sound like the sort of thing one might read on an Aryan Nation or white power website, they actually appeared on what is commonly considered one of the prime online locations for U.S. Conservative grassroots political discussion and organizing - and for a short time, the comments seemed to have the okay of site administrators.
Moderators of the blog left the comments - and commenters - in place until a complaint was lodged by a writer doing research on the conservative movement, almost a full day later.
"Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?" wrote one commenter.
"They make me sick .... The whole family... mammy, pappy, the free loadin' mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin', and especially 'lil cuz... This is not the America I want representin' my peeps," wrote another.

I'm really interested in knowing why we're not hearing more about this kind of news worthy commentary? It's sad, but a harsh reality that this is the position of a lot of Americans. How can a person that calls themselves a peace, loving, happy person say such hateful things about a 11 year-old girl walking with her cousin, wearing a t-shirt (Peace Sign) and flip-flops. I mean I didn't hear comments this harsh about Miley Cyrus when she got nude at 15 years old for Vanity Fair Magazine or any speculation of her first abortion from her 20 year-old boyfriend (Justin Gaston) or from her half naked pictures online leaked from her PDA. But I guess that's not the same thing, because her "mammy" and "pappy" said it's okay to be that accessible at 15 years old. I'm sure hope that's not the America republicans want to see for their "peeps".

Very interesting story. I wonder if the post was really by a "conservative" however.

Racist...conservative...those two adjectives seems to go hand-in-hand when talking about Conservative Republicans these days...or is it just me?

It is...I have had people ask me why I would post something so negative because it would just forecast racial tensions further. On the contrary, I feel that if we continue to sweep this under the rug...we are turning our backs on our own progression as people as well as a country...can't we all just love each other? Jees!

I have been democrat & republican. Now days I just listen. When you run across stupidity, step over it, pay attention to more important LIFE & DEATH issues. Keep your eye on the ball. This comes with age & facing reall problems.

I don't know if you know it or not...but racism, in more places than you would like to know, is a life or death issue. Dragging, hanging, beatings or just good ole hate crimes have been committed against people of color in America. This article was simply to display the ignorance that has been overlooked for way too many years and that even as President's daughter. I understand that everyone will not listen but I just need enough people to hear me in order to provoke a flux in thinking. Take it for what it is.
