Bollywood Music Video Tribute For Michael Jackson’s Birthday
Shah Rukh Khan is currently leading a Bollywood team effort to put together a tribute music video for Michael Jackson’s upcoming birthday on August 29. The Bollywood actor is an earnest MJ fan and had plans to attend a concert in London before the pop icon’s death. Apparently Shah Rukh Khan sincerely grieved Jackson’s death, and is reported to have cried, according to masala.com.
The many renowned composers, singers and actors who are helping create the video have not asked to be paid, according to straitstimes.com. The video is reportedly a gesture to honor and remember Jackson. Many Bollywood stars, directors and choreographers reportedly feel that they owe Jackson recognition for being a huge artistic influence.
Top choreographer Farah Khan was particularly shocked by the news. "I officially had no training in dance and whatever I learnt was from watching Michael Jackson by watching his videos, especially 'Thriller' over and over again,” she explained, “I consider him as my guru."
The music video is entitled ‘We Lived in His World’ and is being directed by Samar Khan and produced by Khan’s production house called Red Chillies. The music is being composed Vishal and Shekhar, renowned for the music in Om Shanti Om and Salaam Namaste. The composers will be performing in the video with singers Kay Kay, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. High profile Bollywood stars will also voice tribute messages in the video, including Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif. The product of their efforts will be aired on all major television channels on August 29.
Shah Rukh Khan and Co. are not apparently the only ones composing a tribute for Jackson’s birthday:
The Mumbai Mirror said this week that A.R. Rahman, who won two Oscars this year for his music on the hit film Slumdog Millionaire was making a tribute album to Jackson. Mr Rahman has previously described the singer as an inspiration
