THE eerie wail of the Muslim call to prayer beckoned the faithful at Dubai’s five-star Airport Meridien Hotel at exactly 12.27pm yesterday.

Burka-clad women shuffled through reception to the hotel’s own mosque to face Mecca and bow before Allah.

But the holy cry of the muezzin was all but drowned out by an altogether unholy racket. Because at 12.30pm on Friday – the Muslim day of prayer – the fun starts at the Meridien’s now notorious boozy brunch party.
