Boring City Makes Comeback With Monthly Art & Music Fest
Eclectic, stylish and sometimes "down-right outrageous," describes what you'll find when you hit Mesa, AZ's "Music On Main" Arts Festival every second Friday of the month.
According to festival organizers, the monthly festival, which kicked-off January 9, features a myriad of art, music and great food that offers a little of something, for every one.
"I think it's great what Mesa is doing," said famed pop-artist and musician Ukulele Ray, who appeared with his band, 'The KoKoNutz,' at the premier event. "We came out to help support a local festival in an area that's crying out for art and culture."
Recently named as "The Biggest Boring City in The U.S.," by Forbes Magazine, Mesa is taking steps to upgrade its image, and the Downtown Merchant's Association, one of the art fest's sponsors, is no exception.
"It's always been a struggle for a downtown area to compete with the malls and lavish entertainment centers cropping up everywhere," said a downtown Mesa restaurant owner. "These events help attract much needed activity and excitement to the area."
...and excitement it is, when you visit Mesa's "Music On Main" the second Friday of every month... rain or shine! (Does it rain in Arizona?)

We attended the event and had a great time. We got to meet Ukulele Ray, and he's anything but boring, and lot of wonderful local talent. Mesa needs more people like this to help break the unfair tag that Forbes gave our city.
