Thanks to Toy Story 3 it is starting to feel like summer again. After opening with $110.3 million this past weekend, Toy Story 3 grossed $15.6 million on Monday and $15.1 million on Tuesday. That's a combined total of $30.7 million. In five days it has made $141 million.

An animated film hasn't performed this well since Shrek 2 in 2004. It opened on Wednesday, May 19 and grossed a five-day opening of $128.9 million. Then it spent two weeks at #1 and ten weeks in the top 10. It ended its run at $441.2 million domestically and $919.8 million worldwide. At the moment it's the highest grossing animated movie of all-time. Unadjusted for inflation, of course.

Will Toy Story 3 take the crown? Domestically, it seems very likely. The only way it won't is if The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Last Airbender gang up on it. Other competition to look out for are Despicable Me and Inception.
