Brickworld, a LEGO convention , took place in Chicago this weekend. Hundreds of attendees (and life-sized minifigs) showed up at the Westin Hotel to take part in seminars and building sessions, getting into arcithecture, robotics, building competitions, and just plain cool stuff.

This annual event is the largest public LEGO expo in the world. (Are there larger, more secret LEGO events that we don't know about?!)

Due to the tyranny of geography, I wasn't there. Though I haven't used plastic building bricks in quite some time, they're pretty much my favorite toy.

"Brickworld presents the opportunity for children and adults to engage their imaginations and interact with other participants and their creations," said Bryan Bonahoom, Brickworld executive director.

This isn't the largest LEGO expo in the world, but the largest in North America.  The largest is LEGO World in Europe.
