Tiger Woods, a practicing Buddhist, has been encouraged by Fox political analyst Brit Hume to turn to Christianity to find forgiveness for his infidelity.

Hume's spiritual advice to Woods has stirred controversy because, as is rather widely known, Woods practices Buddhism and is not Christian by faith. On Sunday addition of Fox News, Hume said he does not think Buddhism offers "the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith."

Hume later went on O'Reilly Factor, trying to explain himself. Bill O'Reilly called on Hume asking whether his comments were proselytizing, which stands for the act of inducing people to convert to another religion. To which Humes replied, "I do not think so...Tiger Woods is somebody I've always rooted for. ... Now we know that the content of his character was not what we thought it was. He is paying a frightful price for these revelations. My sense is that he has basically lost his family. ... My sense about Tiger is that he needs something that Christianity, especially, provides and gives and offers. And that is redemption and forgiveness."

Although Tiger Woods has not been seen in pubic since November 27 when he drove his car into a tree as a result of a domestic dispute, his name just keeps on popping up in the news. Just yesterday, a shirtless photo of Tiger Woods appeared in Vanity Fair magazine. The photo was taken before Tiger Woods mistress scandal broke. The accompanying article talks about the trials an tribulations of Woods whose life has been turned upside down by multiple cheating allegations.

Mr. Hume's remarks were a rather presumptous, arrogant and condescending suggestion.

A sort of 'My religion or God is better than yours'.

Whatever faith is Tiger Woods' prerogative to select.

Brit Hume is a mumbling right wing fool who has no business meddling in Tiger's business that is personal. Who does he think he is?

Totally inappropriate.

Staying faithful to one's spouse has to do with their character, not their religion.

People are free to choose religion and free to talk about religion. I think Islam is the truth, that is why I chose it, so of course I think it is best ! Seeing as Bhudism comes from Hinduism, and the earlyest Hindu Vedas say God is one, perhaps Islam is the answer for him. Getting back to roots, so to speak
