OPINION: No, it isn't the proposed NASA type monstrosity by Battersea Power Station in London, (as it hasn't been built yet) or even one of the many motorway service stations along the M1, it is one of the infamous Concrete Carbuncles of Birmingham.

And, this carbuncle is here with us to stay.

This source comes from today's Daily Mail

Quote

"Even English Heritage concede that Birmingham Central Library is a 'brutalist modern building.'

But it is for that very reason that the conservation watchdog has recommended that the concrete 1970s library - branded an 'eyesore' by locals - should be made a listed building

Though sometimes some of our buildings look like Entrances to Hades, you kind of 'miss them' strangely enough, if they're knocked down. It is a very odd feeling that. I think part of our culture is moaning about them. It kind of leaves a 'moaning gap' if we lose it. Maybe if we keep it Listed, we can learn from this example, of how Not To Do It.

'brutalist modern building:' I like that. The Library looks pretty ugly indeed.
