Christine Hamilton has officially changed her name to ‘Mrs British Battleaxe’ after making the first ever informational video on how to change a name by deed poll.

The self proclaimed ‘British Battleaxe’ changed her name while making a video for online deed poll provider, The Legal Deed ServiceThe Legal Deed Service saw a gap in the market for a comprehensive step by step guide to filling out a deed poll application.

Jamie Jackson, Chief Executive of The Legal Deed Service, which has offices in both Islington, London and Market Drayton, Shropshire, said, “Christine agreed to film the video for us and we haven’t looked back since! She’s a real professional and I can’t thank her enough.  When she suggested changing her name to ‘Mrs British Battleaxe’ I was extremely surprised but it was such a good idea that we went ahead and made it official.”

The video filmed at the Hamilton’s London flat has gone live today. And not only does it give customers answers to some of the most commonly asked questions, but additional information detailing which institutions should be contacted after a name change have been provided.

Now the proud owner of the official deed poll detailing her legal name change, Christine (Now British) said,

“Well of course it had to be Mrs British Battleaxe – what else!  Don’t tell anyone that I’m really just a pussycat and anyway, Mrs Pussycat didn’t seem quite right somehow!’

Mr Jackson added, “We have had some unusual name changes in the past but this really takes the biscuit.  Towards the end of last year we helped the formerly named George Garatt to change his name, which turned out to be the longest name in the world, but this is the first high profile name change we have conducted.

“Christine has been lampooned in countless articles and cartoons as a battleaxe and after she wrote her ‘Book of British Battleaxes’ in 1997, this name seemed like the obvious choice.”

British added, “I haven’t tried writing any cheques with my new name but who knows what I might be doing with it in the future!”
