Britney Spears will be going on tour this year to promote her Circus album, but PETA was angry about the fact that she used real elephants in her music video for the song Circus. However, Britney has announced that she will not be using real live animals for her tour.

“We’ve taken the idea of a traditional ‘big-top circus’ and given it a Britney Spears twist. This circus is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. It’s sexy, fun, explosive, and full of surprises. … While avoiding such traditional circus elements as live animals, we’ve created something innovative and exciting using contortionists, dancers, lighting, fire, and other special effects.”

i have to say, Britney is back. that video is hot.

But I am glad to see the "traditional" circus becoming a thing of the past. It is clear that animals do not perform of their own free will. I think Cirque du Soleil is much more entertaining.

Aw crap, and I was hoping to get tickets too, I hope they don't omit the Monkey Butlers and the Civil War re-enactment using Penguins, cause that would really piss me off!

Using live animals during her tour would likely be logistically complicated and would cost her a fortune.
