Hollywood has been shocked by the death of actress Brittany Murphy. The 32-year-old starred in films like 8 Mile and Clueless. Throughout her career, Brittany Murphy was dogged by rumors of drug use, eating disorder, and plastic surgery.

Rumors about Brittany Murphy's drug use had circulated for years. Some blamed drug use for her thin physique. Reports of Brittany Murphy's erratic behavior at a press junket added to the speculation.

Brittany Murphy consistently denied any reports of drug use. Her denials included this rather haunting quote:

"I have never tried it in my entire life," the "8 Mile" actress insists. "I've never even seen it. ... I am also way too high-strung. I can't even take a Sudafed. Can you imagine? My God. I think my heart would explode."

Brittany Murphy's petite frame also led to reports of an eating disorder. The Brittany Murphy eating disorder stories swirled in recent years since the actress looked substantially thinner than she did when she made her debut in 1995's Clueless. For the record, Brittany Murphy denied having an eating disorder.

As for plastic surgery, in recent years gossip websites have taken Brittany Murphy to task for having plastic surgery. Once again, Brittany Murphy denied the rumors:

Dismissing talk that she's had plastic surgery since her star turn in 1995's "Clueless," she tells Jane magazine: "I have broken my nose three times. But I've never gotten it fixed. I know that changed the shape of it, but it made it wider."

While Brittany Murphy may have had some ups and downs in her past, it's important to note that no reports as of yet indicate that drug use or eating disorders were in any way connected to the cause of death in the case of Brittany Murphy.
