Budd Schulberg, the Oscar winning screenwriter of 'On the Waterfront' dies at the age of 95 today in Long Island. He is survived by his wife Betsy and his five children.

Budd Schulberg rose to fame in the 40s and 50s in the movie industry, and he wrote award-winning books and screenplays, including 'What Makes Sammy Run' and 'The Harder They Fall'.

However, 'On The Waterfront' was his biggest hit. The film stared Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint, and was the big winner at the 1954 Academy Awards, winning eight Oscars.

Mr. Schulberg’s wife, Betsy, said that her husband died at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. She said that he was at home and was taken by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where they tried to revive him but failed.
