Bush Admin Promotes US Tourism with footage of Canada
Was it a mistake or an attempted annexation? With the current track record of the US Administration it could easily have been either. But let's blame Disney for this one.
A Disney-produced promotional video released last week by the departments of State and Homeland Security highlights majestic American landscapes, from New England's colourful fall foliage and the Grand Canyon to the Rocky Mountains and Hawaii's pounding surf.
The footage of Canada comes at 4:11 into the video. The shot captures
the grace and power of Niagara Falls from the Canadian side.
But about four minutes into the seven-minute video, Welcome: Portraits of America, viewers are treated to the impressive sight and sound of water roaring over Niagara Falls. In showing the natural wonder, Disney's filmmakers, however, chose the Horseshoe Falls, the only one of Niagara's three waterfalls to lie almost entirely on the Canadian side of the border separating New York State from Ontario.
Making matters worse, a visitor to the U.S. would not even be able to get the same view of the falls in the video because the scene was shot from a vantage point in Canada, according to Paul Gromosiak, a Niagara Falls, N.Y., historian and author.

This is hilarious to anyone who has ever visited the falls, as it's so obviously on the Canadian side.

And if you keep watching, it spells "sex" in the falls for a few seconds, after Elton John sings "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" to Simba and Nala.
Disney joke!

Annexing Canada ia good idea. I hope Bush does it before he leaves office.

Wow, I reckon this is "Good Stuff." That's why I posted it, with original commentary and multiple resources, the night before this piece was posted.

I went to school on the American side of the Falls, and say yes to annexation. Then our money will be worth something and we really can blame it on Canada!:-)
The sad fact is that I was there when the exchange rate was really bad, and we would cross the border to get our Labbatt Blue and fill our gas tanks cheaply. The flip side was that Canadians could come to the American side and spend their money at par in bars and restaurants.
Times may have changed, but the American side of the Falls is still the ugly stepsister.
