Novie Trump is an artist with a presence in Northern Virginia and Maryland. I saw her latest installation at the Greater Reston Arts Center in Reston Virginia where it is on display until December 23rd. Like many artists, Novie is multifaceted, trained as a classical archeologist at the University of North Carolina.

She has worked in ceramics for years, formerly affiliated with the Lee Arts Center in Virginia and now working at Flux Studios, a contemporary art space that she founded in Mt. Rainier, Maryland.

The butterflies appear to have awakened from cocoons in a swarm. Associated with the ceramic butterflies is an audio recording of their flapping wings. The installation is impressive and interesting from different views and angles as I tried to capture with my photographs.
