California State University Board of Trustees Approve 15% Tuition Increase - CSU Students Protest
Students in the California State University system are being hit with a 15 per cent tuition increase and they don' like it one bit.

A small group of California State Universities students and staff protested the tuition hike at the California State University Board of Trustees meeting in Long Beach.

Students asked trustees to reject the fee hike, saying it placed an unfair financial burden on their shoulders, coming on top of a 5% hike this fall and a 32% fee increase last year.
The two-step increase will raise undergraduate fees 5%: $105 for the rest of the school year, and an additional 10% -- or about $440 -- for next year.

Trustees say additional revenue is critical for the CSU system because of cuts to university education at the state level. The tuition increase is expected to raise $27 million in 2010.
California State University is one of the largest post-secondary education systems in the USA, with 23 campuses (Chico State, San Deigo State, San Jose State etc.,), 433,000 students and 44,000 faculty and staff.
