Can we shock God? pt 1

I often ask myself that as a theological question. If God knows everything we’re going to do in advance, it would stand to reason that he knows before she’s even born, if a woman is going to grow up to be someone who has an abortion. He should also know in advance whether or not she will truly repent for having had that abortion. Right? Cast the first stone if you don’t agree!

So when it comes to the Bible Belt’s viewpoint on the abortion issue, I wonder if they give any thought to the fact that God already knows if the woman will abort AND/OR repent for that decision. And if she doesn’t repent, she will be cast into hell for murder. So can God be surprised by someone from the church talking the woman out of having the abortion? I think not. He already knows if she’s going to abort, and he already knows if a Christian will be able to change her mind. Either way, God already knows what he will do to her, and HE and HE ALONE will be her judge/jury/executioner. Who are we, as mortals, as pieces of dust formed into “man” to judge her, LET ALONE change or try to change what God already knows will happen to that woman?

Do Christians have the right and obligation to at least try to talk her out of an abortion (without brow beating her or Bible thumping her)? Of course we do. But I just can’t see God sitting up there and saying WHOA, that girl really surprised me when she changed her mind about getting an abortion. Because THEN, God would have to change his Master Plan for that girl, which would be to cast her into hell if she didn’t repent.

I believe this is why Roe vs. Wade gives us freedom of choice and why our President supports freedom of choice even though he personally detests abortion.

In part 2 I will discuss other avenues to approach the abortion issue and what steps I think our President should take.
