Canada's Conservative Government has taken a Giant Leap in the Right direction, but replacing Parole Board Members with retired Police and Prison Guards who in the career can see through scams potential parolees use to fool the previous Parole Board members.

Canadians are tired of Catch and Release Programs by previous Justice systems and Parole Board members, only to see the Parolee Convicts repeat crimes time and time again.   Certainly now we will see "Serious Time for Serious Crimes" apply.

Of course previous ineffective Parole Board members, now out of work and opposition Liberal Politicans think it is a bad idea.

But then for decades these inneffective Parole Board Members and Liberals when they were in Power had their chance to improve the situation in preventing repeat criminals from running our streets and failed miserably according to past and present Crime Stats.

Now the Conservative are sticking to their election promises and putting their Talk into Action.

Will British Columbia see our Parole Boards filled with ex Police and ex Prison Board Members, one can only hope!

Happy Canada Day!!

Day called on tapping police for parole board

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day has favoured former police and corrections officers for new appointments to the National Parole Board since the Harper government took office in 2006, government records show.

Of the 36 new members Day has named to the board since he became minister that year, 23 are retired police officers or former federal and provincial corrections staff.

GET-TOUGH JUSTICE

The preference for former police and prison personnel is drawing criticism from opposition MPs and a senior executive with the John Howard Society, who accuse the government of extending a get-tough justice ideology into corrections and rehabilitation.

Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh and New Democrat MP Joe Comartin add that the trend indicates the government is in danger of "politicizing" police forces across the country.
