YAY, We are third place!! I guess?
I don't know how to take this Poll!
Perhaps next year, we are only going to send the most Politest, Stylish, Accomodating people to these countries.

So you other Canadians with your, Not so polite, Eh saying, Hockey Jersey wearing Boors, Drunkards, Sandal and Grey Wool sock wearing, Toque and  T-shirt Daisy Duke, Bermuda short wearing fashion trendsetters, leave your cell phone accessorizers on your belt as a fashion statement at home. The Tourism Police and Canadian Airport Security will be on the lookout for you regular folk, so be forewarned, The Tourist Fashion Police will have their Steel Hanky of Politness at the Ready to hit you with if you try and sneak aboard, they only want to send the best and most fashionable to these countries, so best you all stay at home and eat Kraft Dinner!!   Next year, We're #1, We're #1 for 2009.

As for me, well let's just say if I am going to go vacation anywhere outside Canada, my money and Canadian idiosyncrasies are going South to the Good Ole USA, cause Bottom line, the US don't care if I show up wearing a Toque, jeans, t-shirt, as long as I bring Beer and tales of Canadian humour, and Skidoo technology, I am A-OK, Number #1 with them. Cause they get us!

If I wanted my money and time to go to Blouse Wearing, Cheese Eatin , Poodle Walker Countries, I'll let those other Polite Nancy Canadians go to those countries.   At least in the US of A, they like their Beer Cold, Cars Fast, Women Hot, and Kraft Dinner to taste like Mac and Cheese and that's Okay with me.

Expedia.com recently asked 4000 international hoteliers to rate which country's citizens were the best travellers. The survey broke down rating into criteria including manners, generosity, stylishness and a willingness to embrace local culture.

Here are the rankings:
     1. Japanese
     2. British/Germans
     3. Canadians
     4. Swiss
     5. Dutch
     6. Australians/Swedes
     7. Belgians
     8. Norwegians
     9. Austrians/Danes/Finnish
     10. New Zealanders

Let's be sure and tell the folks at Marriott that the Canadians need the Hockey Channel on the cable.

Hey Barry #3 isn't bad.  I didn't even see the US in the top 10 and I know why.  I have too many stories of Ugly Americans from my travels; like the Yank sitting in a resturaunt in Casablanca.  The waiter brings his bill and the gentleman (I mean hick) calls the waiter back, points at his bill and bellows "What is this?"  The waiter replies that it is his bill for dinner.  To which the hick replies "I know that.  How much is this in REAL money?  US Dollars!"  I made sure the staff understood I was from Canada.  I have many more stories of Americans acting as if they are in New York when they are thousands of miles away from home.

Don't get me wrong I like the US and I like most Americans but I think many of them should not travel abroad.

Navroc, a hockey channel would be a given, and EastVan, I have had my share of witnessing Canadian Tourists in other countries that would make you ashamed to call yourself a Canadian. haha

good stuff:

Barry Artiste, I like this story. It's good stuff.

About 20 to 25 million Japanese travel overseas every year but their spending power is seriously reduced these days. Some worry about eating foreign food. When you see a Japanese tourist carrying two suitcases, one is filled with clothes, the other with instant 'pot-a-noodle'. Last year, three tourists went on an expensive cruise  but only ate 'pot-a-noodle' in their cabins. Very strange behavior. What foods would Canadians take with them?

Barry Artiste

Thanks Zichi for the visit, comments and the flag. In response to your question, first of all that speaks volumes of the modern Japanese diet if they subsist on packaged noodles, I assume their equivalent to Canadians Kraft Dinner.  Canadians I am sure eat whatever food that is presented to them in the countries they visit. Of course as long as it doesn't Bark or Meow.   Canadians are pretty easy going and will try most foods, after all a tomato is a tomato, and egg is an egg, beef and chicken etc........  Certainly these three tourists didn't bother to learn the ships menu which is readily available at the tourist office beforehand, as well on the Cruise Ships Website.  Perhaps they just needed comfort food pot-a-noodles provides.

That is one of the reasons I travel...to get away from Canadian food.  The last thing I want when I am away from Canada is familiar food.  I usually try to find out what the locals eat and where and go there.  And when you are in places like Thailand, Morocco or PNG that usually leads to some very interesting meals.  Poor Japanese tourists.  I feel sorry for them.

All I can say is Take Off, eh?  Great opinion piece.

Thanks lcherry for the flag and the "Takeoff eh" too

good stuff:

Barry Artiste, I like this story. It's good stuff. The reason Japan is number 1 is they take photos and keep 1 hour photos shops in business and they smile all the time.  They seem to have a happiness that is the envy of the world.

The Brits I have met stay to theirselves.  The Germans talk too loud and sound upset even when they say hello.

The Canadians are a blast at the local bar.  They can have fun with a bottle cap and a tooth pick. (I don't drink anymore) The AU and NZ are very outgoing and love to chat.

Barry I hope you are number one... It all comes down to bucks.  Please leave more cash and you will be number 1.

I wonder where Americans come?  27th?

Barry Artiste

I dont take much stock in polls, North America as far as I am concerned is Number 1, if we were not, why would the world be rushing to immigrate here?  Thanks for the comments and flag Politisite, much appreciated.
