Cancer Stricken Patrick Swayze Stops Treatment
Cancer stricken Patrick Swayze has reportedly given up all medical treatment, after doctors told him there was little they could do to stop the progress of his illness.
Fifty-six year old Swayze was diagnosed a year ago with pancreatic cancer, one of the most virulent forms of the disease. He had been determined to fight but earlier this month suffered a setback when he was admitted to hospital with pneumonia.
He's now back home, but his mum Patsy, 81, wants devotees to keep him in their thoughts. "Please tell everyone to keep us in their prayers. Pray for Patrick. I know he has a lot of fans out there thinking about him, and we all appreciate that. Patrick is feeling a lot better since he got out of the hospital."
A family friend told the Enquirer: 'There's nothing more doctors can do for him. We are down to the wire and the goal now is to keep Patrick comfortable. His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He's still losing weight and he's very weak.'
The friend added: 'Patrick regards himself as a cowboy, and is determined to die with his boots on and no regrets.'

It is sad and hard to due this way, maybe because we are most aware of our mortality this way.

Sometimes the treatment is worse than the disease in terms of quality of life (clarity of thought at least) while you are still living. If they have told him that they can not do anything to prolong his life and the treatment is not making him more comfortable or more mentally alert, I can understand and respect his choice.

Maybe it's not true. Denied The National Enquirer's report that he stopped treatment.

Thanks, René, for the news update. I honestly can't say which is worse, continuing and living with the effects of treatment while in stage 4, or quitting now. It's sad, all the way around...

It is a tough choice to make, no good options.

It's hard to lose another great actor with the ethical choices he has made in the roles he took.
OMG, he's only 56!
But he's a fighter. I pray for his recovery.

We should know when it say's "A family friend told the Enquirer" that it was wrong. No family friend would ever tell the National Enquirer anything.
