Cate Blanchett was injured last night during a live performace of A Streetcar Named Desire at The Sydney Theatre Company, when a prop fell on her head from above.

The prop was being held by cast member Joel Edgerton when it fell on Blanchett's head, although ABC Radio said he threw the prop, which was a radio, as he was supposed to in the script.

A member of the audience told the network it soon became clear the incident wasn't part of the play.

"She had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck," she said.

She continued to act for about 30 more seconds but then ran off stage. The audience was then told the show couldn't continue due to technical reasons and they had to leave.

I hope she will be ok!

According to the Sydney Theatre, Cate Blanchett is okay... though it's interesting that their Next Stage had recently had to cancel a production of Ross Mueller's Concussion.
