Catholic Church Issues Prayers For Couples To Say Before Sex

Catholic Church is encouraging couples to recite the specially-versed prayer before they have sex. Church representatives claim that the whole purpose of issuing these prayers is to ‘purify intentions’ in intimate relationships and to prevent hedonism. The 64-page Prayer Book For Spouses published by Catholic Truth Society calls lovers to engage in "love that truly gives, tenderness that truly unites..." In-between prayers, the book teaches about the values of marriage and responsibilities of married life in general.

A book published by a prominent Church group invites those setting out on married life to recite the specially-composed Prayer Before Making Love.

It is aimed at 'purifying their intentions' so that the act is not about selfishness or hedonism.

The book contains prayers for every stage of marriage and family life, including engagement, planning for parenthood, pregnancy and caring for children and elderly parents.

The book pushes the message that marriage should be exclusive and life-long and condemns abortion.

The book retails for £1.95 in the UK. Amazon.com sells the book, but the item's current status is "Out of Print -- Limited Availability". Chapters Indigo does not carry the book at all.
