This is sad. The games are about athletes. They are the celebrities not the fake Hollywood types. Can you focus on what really matters for a few days of your life?

We know the games are about the athletes. Most of the celebs going there are there to support the athletes. And beyond that, the olympics is a great opprutunity for charitable orginizations to make profit and like it or not, celebrities tend to be one of the best ways to do that. Addittionaly, spectators are at the olympics for the athletics, but you need some sort of entertainment to balance it out. Other celebrities help to ensure that the olympics are more well-rounded and hold more of a universal appeal.

It is my job to write about different aspects of the Olympics. Of course the athletes are the focus, I'm just outlining a topic of interest to people on the net because that is also part of my job.

Did you note that the Canadian celebrities who are heading to the games are actually having their costs covered by VANOC? They are giving tickets, accomodation and airfare to these celebrities in order that they come to watch and be examples of the Canadian Spirit. I am outraged that these folks are getting special treatment and freebies when the average British Columbian could not get tickets for trying or couldn't afford them at all - not to mention the fact that we are absorbing the costs for this debacle and will (if Montreal is any indication) be paying for the next 35 years! - long after these athletes -AND - celebrities have been fogotten.

I guess we all better become celebrities! It shouldn't surprise anyone that these types get this treatment. That is simply the way of the world...those who need things the least are the first get get them for free. As they say, don't hate the playa, hate the game! LOL!

I think it's great that Vancouver is showing the world our beautiful city. It has in my opinion things have been going great. The open was a real surprise to me just fabulous. I am so sad about the young fellow fron Georrgia. I thought it was so brave of their team to stay on, I hope we do a tribute to them. There was some things done like the minute of silence but It is my hope that we do more . We need to show the world we care, If we are at fault in anywy we should take the blame. Show the world that Canadians are honest and have symphathy. I guess to sum it up show we have integrety. We should also thank all the people from other counties really show them how much we appreciate them .Thank you people of all countries. Thanks for coming.
